My new position

Today I went and met the person I am replacing at my new school. He gave the FYI, and answered all my questions. I also met with my new principal, and found out that I am now in charge of our website. I think I owe that to taking this class this summer. I think it's already shaping up to be a really good year!

Assignments finished!

Wow, today was stressful, but it's over now and nobody was hurt. There's such a great feeling when you get things accomplished and then turn them in. It's a weight that's been lifted off my shoulders. It feels good!

Kindergarten Camp

Well, camp has finally started. I don't know why it is such a relief to me that these kids are not going to be in my class this year. I don't have to worry about any of the behavior problems, or mad moms. I just sit back and assess. That's my job, assessing all the students. It's nice for them and me. I get their assessments done for them, and I don't have to set up my room (for me)! They are the cutest though! It has made me realize it was time to move out of kindergarten!

Autism and Aspergers Syndrome

Today I went to an Autism and Asperger's Syndrome Seminar. It was VERY interesting! I've had 1 child with Autism and 1 child with Aspergers in the past 4 years. Things make a lot more sense now. I definitely researched the syndromes before I had the kids in class, but to hear the expert's discuss it was an eye opener. One of the speakers has autism, and has written numerous books on living with autism. I found her fascinating. I would recommend learning about these disorders to help better ourselves as educators.

A crazy day!

Well my day has been a roller coaster already. I had a kindergarten camp meeting today to prepare for next week. At the meeting I get a call from a friend that has to go in for an emergency surgery tomorrow. Five minutes later my husband called and told me he was being taken to the hospital because he got hurt at work. We found out that he tore ligaments in his knee. We will go in for another MRI of Friday, and then see if we need surgery. Things can get crazy in a flash! Oh, and I still have a ton of work to do for class.

Our fabulous bulletin board!

Today, my partner and I had a meeting to meet with our contact person for our bulletin board project. After the meeting we had some wonderful ideas for the board. We chose to get started on it right away. We are in charge of the Kappa Delta Pi Bulletin Board. We found out from our contact person that she wanted these 4 things: contact information, up-coming events, scholarship information, and information on the chosen student teacher. We put the four pieces of information in the four corners of the board. We chose to make it a working bulletin board to where if any of the information needed to be updated it could be replaced easily. We also used purple and green (the honor societies' colors), and their crest is on the board as well. I think the board looks fantastic! It's also bright and colorful. This is right up my alley, though. I love to create and put together bulletin boards.

First day of class...

Well, we just wrapped up the first class of Integrating Media and Technology in the Classroom. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed right now. They're are a lot of assignments, but they're all very interesting. My friends have been after me to get a Facebook account. I love working on the computer and the internet, so this is all right up my alley. I also like to stay busy, so this is perfect for me. I really feel that this class will help me as I embark on my next adventure, teaching G.T.! I'm nervous and excited all at the same time!
